Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Derbent, Southwest Gissar. Yu.N. Andreyev, 1969 (363, p. 28-29). Stratotype on the eastern slope of the Kugitangtau ridge. The term is not used.

Synonym: Derbent Suite, Дербентская св., Kalamazar suite.


Lithology and Thickness

Greenish clays with rare layers of shell rock. Thickness 40-75 m.

Lies conformably on the Karakuz Fm

Overlain conformably by the Luchak Fm.

Contains ammonites - Douvilleiceras cf. mammillatum Schloth., Cleoniceras mangyshlakense Lupp., Cl. kugitangense Lupp., Cl. rudiki Iljin; marine bivalve mollusks - Amphidonte arduennensis Orb., foraminifers - Gaudryina okusbulakensis Kortch.; ostracods - Cytherella ovata Oertli.
